蒲慕明
蒲慕明POO Mu-Ming 1948年出生，中國科學(xué)院院士，美國科學(xué)院外籍院士，現(xiàn)任中國科學(xué)院腦科學(xué)與智能技術(shù)卓越創(chuàng)新中心學(xué)術(shù)主任，上海腦科學(xué)與類腦研究中心主任。他是國際著名的神經(jīng)生物學(xué)家和生物物理學(xué)家，他建立的“光漂白”技術(shù)至今仍是測量細(xì)胞內(nèi)蛋白運動速度的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)實驗方法，他在膜蛋白動態(tài)運動、神經(jīng)元發(fā)育和軸突導(dǎo)向、突觸形成和可塑性、神經(jīng)環(huán)路的功能等領(lǐng)域都有重要貢獻(xiàn)。
家國天下 臨危受命
1981年、1982年、1983年三次回國開設(shè)講習(xí)班。
1984-1986年擔(dān)任清華大學(xué)生物科學(xué)與技術(shù)系首任系主任。
1989-1991年任香港科技大學(xué)建校籌備委員會委員。
1980-至今，蒲慕明持續(xù)發(fā)起美國科技教育協(xié)會前往中國偏遠(yuǎn)落后的農(nóng)村支教。
1999-2019年蒲慕明任中科院神經(jīng)科學(xué)研究所首任所長。
矢志不渝 改革不止
2011年NATURE發(fā)文綜述蒲慕明對中國神經(jīng)科學(xué)領(lǐng)域的貢獻(xiàn)。

倡導(dǎo)批判性思維Poo encourages students to critique articles in Nature, Science and Cell, which are often considered unassailable in China. He arranges for renowned scientists to give lectures, and asks his students to grill them with challenging questions.

率先開展同行評估He evaluates faculty members and recruits on the basis of peer-reviewed publications and other achievements. To replace the bureaucratic review of scientific work in China, for example, Poo brought in an independent review system that applied even to esteemed CAS members.

開創(chuàng)國內(nèi)第一The results are clear. ION researchers authored China's first neuroscience papers in Cell, Science, Neuron, Nature Neuroscience and Nature Cell Biology and, until 2005, the ION accounted for more than half of all top-level neuroscience publications from Chinese institutions.

拓展中國神經(jīng)科學(xué)領(lǐng)域的版圖The ION's "primary accomplishment has been to put neuroscience on the map in China in a way that no other basic neuroscience-research institute in the country has done", says Richard Morris, a neuroscientist at the University of Edinburgh, UK, and a member of the institute's international advisory board.

輪轉(zhuǎn)制度 ION students — 20 or so graduate with PhDs each year — rotate through three different laboratories, evaluate their experiences and then choose a principal investigator as a thesis supervisor.

2016年蒲慕明獲得Gruber神經(jīng)科學(xué)獎。
蒲慕明認(rèn)為，我國科研工作者應(yīng)該有忘我精神，更要有中國知識分子“先天下之憂而憂，后天下之樂而樂”傳統(tǒng)情懷，要培養(yǎng)有強烈社會責(zé)任感和使命感的科學(xué)家，努力解決科學(xué)發(fā)展和國家發(fā)展面臨的緊要問題，以科技成果報效國家。沒有愛國情懷作引領(lǐng)，沒有科學(xué)精神作支柱，沒有濃厚的原始興趣作導(dǎo)向，難以讓科研人員板凳甘坐十年冷，歷經(jīng)無數(shù)次失敗，仍然在求索科學(xué)真理的道路上砥礪前行。
